Privacy policy

The Lenscord apps collect no data. There are no accounts, analytics, ads or tracking, and your video goes over the USB cable from your iPhone to your own Mac and stays on your devices. This website sets no cookies and keeps your email address only if you join the launch waitlist.

Effective 13 October 2026. Applies to Lenscord for iPhone, Lenscord for Mac and this website.

Summary

The Lenscord apps collect no data: in App Store terms, “Data Not Collected”. They have no accounts, analytics, advertising or tracking. Your live USB video travels from your iPhone to your own Mac. Backup takes and local Portrait recordings stay on your devices and leave them only when you import or share them. The apps never send anything to us or to anyone else. (If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in iOS, Apple may share crash reports with us, as described below.)

Lenscord for iPhone

  • Lenscord uses the camera for the live camera and Portrait modes only after you allow camera access. For USB streaming, tap Start camera to begin. If a phone call or another app interrupts a stream, it picks up again when you return to Lenscord. If Lenscord was closed during a stream, it waits for you to tap Resume camera, unless a phone call paused the stream less than five minutes earlier. Tap Stop to end a stream.
  • To pause and resume around phone calls, the app checks only whether a call is in progress. It never sees who is calling or any other call details.
  • Video is compressed on the iPhone and sent over the USB connection to the Lenscord app on your Mac. The app listens only on the iPhone’s own internal address, which your Mac reaches through the cable, and the video, the effect and camera controls and backup takes answer only to the pairing code. It never listens on your Wi-Fi network and makes no internet connections.
  • Background blur and Darken background run entirely on the iPhone. The app finds where you are in each frame and changes only the video it sends to your Mac. The effects don’t send or save any pictures of their own.
  • Backup takes are saved on the iPhone only when you turn backup on or start a take yourself, on the iPhone or from Lenscord for Mac. With backup on, Lenscord for Mac starts and stops takes when OBS starts and stops recording. A take is a copy of the same video the iPhone sends to OBS, with no sound, saved in Lenscord’s Takes folder on the iPhone. Takes are kept out of iCloud device backups. They stay on your devices and leave the iPhone only when you import them to your Mac over the USB cable or share them yourself, for example with the Files app, Finder, AirDrop or the Share button. Deleting a take in Lenscord or in Files removes it.
  • To decide whether a take can start, the app checks how much free space the iPhone has. That amount is shown on the iPhone and never leaves it.
  • Portrait recording (when available in your build) can use the front camera and, after you allow microphone access, record your voice with the video. Recordings are saved locally in Lenscord’s Documents/Shorts folder on the iPhone. Your teleprompter script is also saved locally. Neither recordings nor scripts are uploaded or used for tracking. They leave your device only if you export or share them.
  • Apart from backup takes and Portrait recordings, the app saves no video, photos or diagnostic files. It keeps its settings: your effect choices, your lens, frame rate and zoom, whether a Mac already has the pairing code, and whether a stream was running and when a phone call paused it, so it can pick up again or offer Resume camera. USB streaming and backup takes remain video-only; use a microphone on your Mac for sound in OBS. The iPhone app doesn’t use your photo library, your location or your contacts.
  • The app keeps a 6-digit pairing code in the iPhone’s Keychain so your Mac can reconnect without asking again. The code is used only to check connections from your Mac.

Lenscord for Mac

  • The app receives the video over USB and offers it to OBS at a local address that only apps on the same Mac can reach. It doesn’t save the stream, and it makes no internet connections.
  • When you import backup takes, it copies them from the iPhone over the USB cable into ~/Movies/Lenscord. An interrupted import leaves a partial file there so it can resume. It deletes a take from the iPhone only if you ask it to, and only after the whole file is on your Mac.
  • To follow OBS recording with backup takes, it asks OBS’s WebSocket server on your Mac (127.0.0.1) whether OBS is recording, about once a second while backup is on.
  • The teleprompter uses the microphone only in Follow my voice mode, and only after you allow microphone and speech recognition access. Your speech is recognised on the Mac itself and is never sent anywhere, including to Apple’s servers. If a language can’t be recognised on the Mac, Lenscord tells you instead of sending your voice elsewhere. Lenscord doesn’t record or keep your voice. Your script and teleprompter settings are saved in Lenscord’s preferences on your Mac.
  • Make vertical runs entirely on your Mac. It finds your face in the video you choose with Apple’s on-device Vision framework and saves the vertical copy next to the original. No video leaves your Mac.
  • It keeps the iPhone’s pairing code in your Mac’s login Keychain so it can reconnect by itself.
  • To open OBS with the right setup, it reads the scene collection and profile files OBS keeps on your Mac.
  • Crop frame and Pencil talk to OBS through OBS’s own WebSocket server on your Mac (127.0.0.1). Each time it connects, Lenscord reads the server’s port and password from OBS’s settings file; it never stores or shares the password. It takes still snapshots of the camera from OBS to show in the editor and keeps them in memory only. It changes OBS only when you apply, undo or remove a crop or an outline.
  • When you apply a crop or an outline, Lenscord saves files in ~/Library/Application Support/Lenscord/OBS Masks so Undo and your saved OBS scenes keep working: Pencil’s outline masks (black-and-transparent images with no camera pictures), the outline points, the OBS scene and source names and IDs they belong to, and the framing before your last change. Before deleting the folder, choose Remove Lenscord outline layers… in Pencil’s ⋯ menu, so OBS doesn’t look for the masks.
  • Its local status report contains no camera images, pairing codes or device identifiers.

Information we collect

None from the apps. We don’t run any server that receives your video or any information about you or your devices, and the apps contain no analytics or advertising code.

If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone’s settings, Apple may share crash reports and aggregated usage statistics for Lenscord for iPhone with us. We use them only to find and fix problems. You can turn this off at any time in Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements. Lenscord for Mac doesn’t come from the App Store and sends us nothing.

This website

This website uses cookieless analytics to understand visits, loading performance and which features people explore. We do not use advertising pixels, session replay, browser fingerprinting or analytics cookies. Website analytics are separate from the Lenscord apps, which contain no analytics.

  • Hosting. Cloudflare hosts the site. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes standard request data, such as IP addresses, browser details and the pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
  • Visits and performance. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics for page visits, loading performance and broad reports such as browser, device, country and referring website. It does not use cookies or local storage to identify visitors. We load it only on lenscord.com, not on development or preview sites.
  • Website actions. We keep daily totals for actions such as viewing pricing, trying a demo, opening a FAQ or submitting a launch signup. These counters contain only the day, a predefined action, a predefined option or form location, and a page label. They contain no emails, form contents, IP addresses or IP hashes, visitor or session identifiers, raw URLs, query strings or referrers. They are not linked to your waitlist email. They count actions, not unique people.
  • Your privacy settings. When your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, we disable optional website analytics. You can still use the site and join the waitlist.
  • Launch waitlist. If you join the waitlist, we store only your email address, the time you signed up and which signup form on the page you used. We use your address only to tell you about the Lenscord launch. We never sell or share it, and we delete it when you ask (see Contact).
  • Spam protection. To stop automated signups, the signup form keeps a one-way hash of your IP address for up to 10 minutes. The IP address itself is never stored.

Apple distributes the iPhone app through TestFlight during testing, and through the App Store once it launches. Both are covered by Apple’s own privacy policy.

Children

The apps collect no information from anyone, including children. The launch waitlist isn’t directed at children under 13. If you believe a child has signed up, ask us and we’ll delete the address.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and its effective date. If a future version of Lenscord ever collects any data, this page will say so before that version is released.

Contact

A contact address for privacy questions and waitlist removal requests will be listed here before launch.
